Taking a break to enjoy the view from Lion's Head. Backpacked 13 miles from Salsbury to Bear Mountain. Great weather fabulous views....
We meet September through April on Monday nights at 7:00 at Our Lady of the Assumption "Mother" Church on Rt 69 in Woodbridge. From May through June we meet at the same time at our Camp Whiting on Litchfield Turnpike (Rt.69). Stop by and see what we're all about.
The camp was moved to it's current location off Litchfield Turnpike in Woodbridge in 1978 and renamed Camp Whiting after the Troop founder and chief cabin builder. Camp Whiting features a large open field for tent camping and field activities as well as two Adirondak Lean-To's and a main cabin complete with fireplace and pot belly stove. There is also a large fire ring for campfires and ceremonies. The camp lies between two blue trails which run through the Bishop estate and along the base of West Rock.
Camp Whiting is home to Troop 63 but is open to all registered Scout Troops and Cub Packs. For Scheduling information please call Charlie Whiting at 387-5678

Troop 63 At a Glance
Troop 63 is one of the oldest Boy Scout Troops in the Council with a strong tradition, and rich history in Scouting. Our Troop was founded in 1963 to bring scouting to boys in the Bethany, Orange, and Woodbridge communities. Chartered by Assumption Church, Troop 63 quickly became known as the "outdoor troop".
We are active all year. Our outings include all types of camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, canoe trips, white water rafting as well as cultural events such as visits to historical parks, the Museum of Natural History, and the United Nations. We also plan and participate in Community service projects each year. We follow the BSA program of "fun with a purpose". This year marks our 49th anniversary of helping boys reach their full potential.

Camp Whiting History
Much of our Troop's legacy is reflected in the history of our own camp and the dedicated fathers who built it. In 1963 our first camp "Camp Schulz" was established on land donated by Mr. Schulz of Woodbridge. The camp centered around a 30 x 30 solid oak cabin and took Charlie Whiting, Ernie Trowbridge, Don Schultz, Mac Engstrom, Rupert Thomas, John Reynolds and many other dedicated Dad's working weekends nearly three years to build.
